Who we are and what this policy covers

This policy explains how Big Wella (“we”, “us”, ABN 77 683 247 003, Australia) collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information through our website, bigwella.com.

Our games and apps have their own privacy policies, linked from each product. For Big Wella Animal Adventure, see the Animal Adventure privacy policy. Other products we link to, such as WellRead, are covered by their own policies.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Information we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us:

• Contact form: your name, email address, the reason you are getting in touch and your message.
• For schools enquiry form: your name, work email, school, role and what you need help with.
• Email: whatever you include when you email us.

We do not collect sensitive information, and we ask you not to include it in a message.

How we collect it

Directly from you, when you fill in a form or email us. When you visit the site, our host automatically keeps short-term server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver and secure the site. If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your own browser only and is never sent to us.

Why we use it

We use your information only to reply to your enquiry, provide what you asked for (for example, arranging a conversation with your school), keep records of our dealings with you, and keep the site secure. We will not use it for any other purpose unless you agree or the law requires it.

Children

This website is for adults: parents, teachers and schools. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it. If you believe a child has sent us their details, contact us and we will delete them.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run the site and our email, who may use it only to provide their service to us:

• Netlify, Inc. (United States): website hosting and storage of form submissions.
• Google LLC (United States): our email (Google Workspace) and the fonts used on the site (Google Fonts).

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, for example to a court or regulator.

Overseas disclosure

Because our providers are based in the United States, information you send us is stored and processed there. We use established providers with strong security practices, and we take reasonable steps to make sure they handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Cookies, analytics and marketing

The site uses no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies. Because we do not track visitors, we do not respond differently to “Do Not Track” browser signals.

We do not send marketing emails. If we ever offer a newsletter, it will be opt-in only, and every email will include a simple way to unsubscribe.

Artificial intelligence

We do not use your personal information to train artificial intelligence models, and we do not make automated decisions about you.

Security

The site is served only over a secure (HTTPS) connection. Form submissions and email are held in password-protected accounts with two-step sign-in, accessible only to us. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries only as long as we need them to help you and keep sensible business records, and we delete them no later than 24 months after our last contact with you. You can ask us to delete your details sooner at any time.

Data breaches

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will assess it promptly and notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@bigwella.com. We will respond within 30 days, and there is no charge. If we cannot do what you ask, we will explain why.

Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, email support@bigwella.com and we will work with you to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date.
